IELTS Listening Practice - Download Your New Clothes
Improving your listening comprehension is an essential skill for not just performing well on your English Exam but necessary ability for surviving in an area where only English is spoken. If you plan on living in a nation whose primary language is English or going to an English speaking university then you need to master your listening comprehension.
As you prepare and improve your listening ability its important for you to expose yourself to listening material that is real or 'authentic.' Authentic audio exposes you to what a fluent speaking situation sounds like as well as to the pattern, intonation and pronunciation of fluent English situations.
The following video is a Ted Talk by Danit Peleg who was the first person to design fashion that is printed on a home 3D printer. You might notice in the video that Danit is not a native English speaker (she makes a handful of grammatical errors) but her fluency and pronunciation are flawless.
Directions:
- Start by taking approximately 30 seconds to read over the listening questions (below). Make sure you try to identify what you think the keywords and concepts are.
- Next, either watch the video or listen to the audio and try and answer the questions without re-listening or re-winding the audio.
- Now, you can check your answers or listen to the video again. We recommend you keep listening until you can hear each of the answers clearly from the audio.
- If all else fails, take a look at the transscript (click the script button below the video) and read along with the video the double check your comprehension.
